Trauma

Let’s overcome your trauma together….

“This is too much,” you say to yourself, which is joined with an intrusive thought that comes out of the blue – visualizing the traumatic event.

You’re now feeling confused and disoriented. This causes your mood to immediately change.

So what do you do?

You find yourself becoming avoidant of anything that could potentially trigger an unwanted feeling or memory of that event.

This leaves you socially isolated and withdrawn from your world.

That which once brought you happiness and joy is now avoided at all cost.

You fear that you will re-experience the traumatic event – leading to panic.

Physically, you are left easily startled, fatigued and exhausted.  You try to sleep, but it feels impossible.

Even your sex life is suffering. Your body is tense, which causes your muscles to spasm.

Long term effects of trauma…

To manage the unwanted memories of your trauma you try to control for things to happen in your world-leading to compulsive behavior patterns.

You’re left feeling depressed and hopeless, which leads you to self-destructive behaviors – i.e., excessive drinking, substance abuse, overeating, impulsivity.

This has become too much for you, but right now you feel like you are in a hole.

You want a way to control your reaction to the fear of being re-traumatized – that constant fear of being threatened.

You experience uncontrollable reactive thought patterns, and dissociative symptoms.

But you realize that no matter what you do or how hard you try you can’t do this on your own.

The suffering that you’re experiencing will continue unless you act now.

If you don’t reach out you will continue to experience these things, returning to the destructive patterns that do not serve your higher self.
